Named for a particularly beautiful stretch of Pacific Northwest seashore, the Gold Coast Jazz Band was formed in 1991 and has been delighting dancers and fans of traditional jazz ever since. They play an entertaining mix of solid trad and 1920's novelty tunes with the kind of energy that brings smiles to any audience, gets toes tapping, and draws dancers to the floor to strut their stuff. Gold Coast's musicians, all seasoned jazz veterans, are fluent in a wide variety of jazz styles, from early New Orleans through the Hot Jazz era of Chicago and New York in the 1920's, and on to the Great Jazz revival period of the 50’s and 60’s. It’s “Danceable Dixieland" at its best, played from a book of wonderful tunes by Morton, Oliver, Armstrong, Waller, Beiderbecke, the early Ellington, Watters and others less well known but no less interesting and exciting. | ||||
